Course content and evaluation

Battery storage systems is part of the blended Battery Storage Expert Programme and and consists of interactive sessions, lab- and discussions as well as face-to-face or virtual activity. The sessions will focus on the following:

  • Battery storage techno­logies and applications
  • How battery materials are fabricated
  • Battery preparation and assembly
  • Efficiency and power conversion in battery applications
  • Battery management systems
  • Battery testing

To succeed in the Battery storage systems course and receive a Certificate of Parti­ci­pation a learner needs you need to success­fully complete the online contents of the Battery Storage Expert Programme and attend at all face-to-face (or virtual) sessions.

Learning outcomes

This course empowers learners to:

  • Explore the different battery storage technologies
  • Understand what affects the choice of a battery storage solution
  • Grasp what the role of a battery management system is
  • Understand the importance of battery testing, how to test a lithium-ion battery cell, and the relevant tools for initial evaluation of testing results
  • Understand how a battery cell is made

Prior knowledge

In order to be able to follow and benefit from the Battery storage systems course learners would need to go through the online contents of the Battery Storage Expert Programme. Therefore, the learners wound need to have a general understanding of battery cells, battery system components, and their working principles.

European colla­bo­ra­tions for innovation in sustainable energy

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an EU body created by the European Union to strengthen Europe’s ability to innovate. EIT is active in different industries, such as manufacturing, health and culture. EIT InnoEnergy is responsible for accele­rating sustainable energy innovations and one of its tools for doing this is the European Battery Alliance for battery storage (EBA), that amongst other things produces training material for battery technology and electromobility. 

EIT InnoEnergy and EBA work with training providers all across Europe to adjust the training to local needs. Göteborgs Tekniska College are proud to be the first Swedish college to provide the online training from EIT InnoEnergy and EBA to the Swedish market.
