The Battery testing course introduces you to the purpose of battery testing. Specifically, you will be introduced to different methods of battery testing that allow battery cells and systems to be evaluated properly after manufacturing.
You will discuss the importance of testing, and explore the related standards, required testing infrastructure, safety measure, and analysis tools. Finally, you will explore how to create and incorporate battery models in different applications in order to assess the performance of the battery during use.

Course content and evaluation
Battery testing is an online course and consists of three modules. Each module includes reading materials and animations to illustrate the content to make it easy to follow. The modules in the course are the following:
- Understanding the basics of battery testing
- Exploring the setting-up and execution of battery testing programmes
- Understanding how to work with battery testing results
To succeed in the course and receive a Certificate of Accomplishment, you will need to complete at least 80% of the course contents.
More information about the course structure and FAQ.
This course empowers learners to:
- Explain the exact need for a BMS in a battery-supported application and list the set of functions aBMS should support
- Interpret the BMS specifications in light of the basic functionalities
- List the most important BMS components, their requirements, and their value for the system
- Explain the concept of State of Health and State of Charge
- Evaluate if a string of battery cells is balanced and what the impact is of imbalance.
This course is beneficial for battery system integrators, battery technicians, Energy Management System developers and providers, and researchers in the field of energy willing to develop or build further on battery testing.
In order to be able to follow and benefit from the course you would need to have a basic understanding of battery cells, system components, and their working principles.
Create your own blended learning path
Online training is an efficient way to secure new knowledge. But sometimes you need to go deeper and apply theory in practice order to really understand. That is why we recommend you to combine your online learning with laboratory work and practical training led by our experienced trainers at our training centre in Torslanda.
The online courses from EIT InnoEnergy and EBA can be combined with one another as well as with the regular course portfolio at Göteborgs Tekniska College and thus result in a longer learning path. Based on your needs, we will together construct a tailormade blended learning path with both online and classroom training, that will make for great results in your organisation.

We recommend to continue your learning path with the following course:
European collaborations for innovation in sustainable energy
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an EU body created by the European Union to strengthen Europe’s ability to innovate. EIT is active in different industries, such as manufacturing, health and culture. EIT InnoEnergy is responsible for accelerating sustainable energy innovations and one of its tools for doing this is the European Battery Alliance for battery storage (EBA), that amongst other things produces training material for battery technology and electromobility.
EIT InnoEnergy and EBA work with training providers all across Europe to adjust the training to local needs. Göteborgs Tekniska College are proud to be the first Swedish college to provide the online training from EIT InnoEnergy and EBA to the Swedish market.
